Clinton - Washington Avenues (G)
This stop brings you to some large, bland apartment buildings. But just a short walk away is a beautiful sculptural garden, and my favorite French Toast, at Sailor on DeKalb.
Inside Pratt’s Sculpture Garden. The easiest entry is at the intersection of DeKalb and St. James. See how many sculptures you can find when you’re there! Can you beat my count of 22?
Inside Sailor. Go for brunch! But their lunch and dinner are good, too.
Or get a drink at Mayflower, an intimate bar where you can throw out some adjectives (or nouns, adverbs, subjunctives, whatever) and a specialist will craft you a bespoke drink.
Some of the fancier homes just beyond the large apartment complexes around the stop.
In general this is a residential-heavy stop, with a mix of bland affordable housing buildings next to fancy stand-alone homes. And the commerce in the area, like airy pottery studio Lucky Pig and sports bar/restaurant/Monday night trivia hub Brooklyn Public House tends to have a neighborhood-friendly vibe.
The view right outside the station.
