Greenpoint Avenue (G)

Put on your walking shoes - this is a BIG stop! Ideally, just wander and get lost in Greenpoint to enjoy its full flavor of art cafes and restaurants and galleries and bakeries and rave warehouses and concept stores and plant shops and brownstones and, you know, everything.

It’s also got a community vibe, by-and-for the local artists, but its so fun that it gets its fair share of visitors, too.

In general, the funnest streets are north and west of the station: West Street, Manhattan Ave, Greenpoint Ave, and Franklin Ave. Weave through those, and you’ll get a nice flavor for the area.

You’ll find your own spots in Greenpoint, but catch these while you can:

West St

ZDS Creative: Cool art gallery

Yoseka Stationery: Calligraphy pens! Custom stamps! Ink pots! Ballpoints! Felt tips! Pencils!!!

Anima Mundi Apothecary: Hip herbal medicine store. Kind of like Scarlet Sage (RIP) in San Francisco.

Stuart Cinema & Cafe: Intimate movie theater with an IYKYK vibe

Fritz & Fraulein: Cool bohemian and vintage things

Naked Dog: I was obsessed with the pasta

Greenpoint Ave

WNYC Transmitter Park: It’s small, but has a nice view of Manhattan.

myplasticheart: Cute pop culture toy store with a cute kawaii vibe.

Karczma: Very old-school Polish restaurant, like traditionally-dressed waitress vibes

Taku Sano: Unique, hits-the-spot Japanese taco sandwiches.

Kettl Tea: The best matcha selection in New York City

Illegal Mezcal: Cool, vibey bar.

Franklin Ave

Happy Medium: Super fun art cafe. Currently you have to make a reservation through instagram DMs.

Bakeri: The baked goods are delicious, the decor is soo charming.

Clown Shown Prison Books and Fine Objects: A cramped, fascinating little alcove of a bookstore

Tend Greenpoint: Such a cute plant shop

Macha Studio: Bespoke fine jewelry, like a Brooklyn take on the classics

Dandelion Wine: Cute wine store

Sereneco: Airy-wooden vibey restaurant

Manhattan Ave

Flower Cat Cafe: Rich cat-themed decor meets tea party aesthetic. Come for that, stay for the events.

Archestratus Books + Foods: Fun lil’ store to explore

And walk south on Manhattan Ave until you get to Nassau G’s territory for more recs.
