Kosciuszko Street (J)
Straddling Bushwick and Bed-Stuy, this stop is a must-visit for street art.
In general the area has dichotomous vibes: establishments either cater to the Black/Brown and immigrant community, or to the recent gentrifiers (both of the homeowning-white-women-with-strollers variety and scraping-by artists of color).
Walk along Broadway street towards Myrtle (JMZ) for a tour of the street art and mixed-immigrant-and-gentrifiers vibe.
Street Art:
The intersections of Broadway Street with

The Non-Gentrified Spots
Project 472 wants to do a better job of promoting pre- and non-gentrified, community-oriented spots in the neighborhood. This can be hard to do because these are places that often don’t have a big internet presence. So my best advice is that you walk around the area and engage with the non-gentrified spots.
One I’ll shout out: D’Valdez Cleaner/Tailor. It gives the vibe that it’s here for and by the local immigrant community. I hope places like this can stick around, even with the onslaught of gentrification.
The photos below have more shout outs.
Broadway and Dodworth.
Washing machine, anyone?
One of the non-gentrified spots, catering to the local Latinx community.
AJ of Eurekas, which is a mini community stage across the street from Secret Pour. It’s the kind of thing where I’m not sure how long the pop-up will last, but perhaps the takeaway is that this is the kind of stop where this kind of pop up would happen.
Another non-gentrified spot.
Free resources, goods, and food for the community.
A friend in a deli beneath the subway who wanted his photo taken.
Just a little boop of art.
