75th Avenue (E, F)
Nature Alert!
This stop gives you access to the Pat Dolan Trail. Bird lovers, you will bird.
Here’s how I’d do it:
Get out of the station and walk to the Pat Dolan Trailhead, which turns into the Willow Lake Preserve Trail. This is a 20-min through-trail that brings you through lush and overgrown nature. (Of note, it’s so lush and overgrown that it’s hard to see the lake until you get to a little viewing point along the trail.)
If you get out at the end of the trail, you’ll be in Kew Gardens Hills, which is a residential Jewish-Hasidic community largely inaccessible by the subway system. Walk down Park Drive East and you’ll hit a walking path that guides you through a tangled freeway overpass, straight to the Kew Gardens - Union Turnpike (EF) stop. Walk up on Queens Blvd until you return to the 75th Ave (EF) stop, and get a beer, treat, or meal while you’re at it.
Voila! A big loop, that’ll probably take you an hour total. The below pics will guide you through it.
