77th Street (R)

Per usual for the yellow line, the train brings you to 4th Ave, while the action is on 3rd and 5th Aves.

Come here for date night.

3rd Ave, Around This Stop

In general, 3rd Avenue around this stop has a somewhat old-school, upscale vibe, with multicultural influence.

Greenhouse Cafe has an elegant old-school vibe, and has been around since the 1970s.

The Healing Bean is a more multicultural cafe that functions as a community gathering spot.

And then you’ve got other cute restaurants and cafes, perfect for date night or hanging with a friend, like Tanoreen, Omonia Cafe, Cappuccino Cafe, Aleli Mexican Restaurant, and the like.

5th Ave, Around this Stop

5th Ave is like 3rd Ave, but a little more casual, and with a touch more Arabic influence.

Arabic Eats: Yemen Cafe and Restaurant, Yemenat, Al-Sham Restaurant.

Historic Eats: Gino’s is an Italian restaurant that’s been here since the 1960’s.

How to See Bay Ridge, In General

3rd and 5th avenues are both worth a long stroll. I’d pick one, walk south till you hit the water, then u-turn to walk up the other avenue.

Greenhouse Cafe and Cappuccino Cafe, on 3rd Ave

Al-Sham Restaurant on 5th Ave (peep the conical house dome in the back)

5th Ave Arabic influence

Well, this Bay Ridge home stood out.
