Brighton Beach (B, Q)
Beach, boardwalk, and Russian culture.
The station brings you to Brighton Beach Ave, which is worth exploring (in either direction) for the eastern European grocery stores and bakeries. Pick up some Russian candies, Ukranian pastries, really whatever eastern European treats you want, and voila, you are ready for a beach picnic.
The sandy beach is great for beach volleyball or general lolling about. And the boardwalk is great for a stroll. The restaurants along the boardwalk are touristy, which is why I think you should skip them and pick a place along Brighton Beach ave instead, like Uzbeki-Uyghur Kashkar Cafe.
