East Broadway (F)
If you’re getting dinner or a drink off this stop, put on your party pants because it’s likely to be hip.
This stop brings you to the center of Dimes Square, which is the trendy microneighborhood between Chinatown and the LES. It’s also the subject of many cultural thinkpieces.
In summer, it gives off European square vibes, with the intersection of Canal and Ludlow closed off to cars and thick with pedestrian milling. The shops are cool, like Coming Soon (which, actually, is a shop that is here, now).
At one corner of Dimes Square is Seward Park, great for a brief stroll or some fierce, Asian ping-pong tournaments. The Seward Park library is also a small but sweet find. I mean, if you’re going to drop off your over-dues, why not do it in a park?
South of Dimes Square, among the brown residential high-rises, you can try Golden Diner, which serves trendy wines to compliment very fluffy pancakes.
In general, this stop is worth a thorough weave through its surrounding streets, particularly through the Dimes Square section. If you want to keep the party going, snake up Orchard, or explore 2nd Ave (F) or Delancey/Essex (F).
