This station brings you to a train depot that gives the area a permanent construction-like feel. But, walk about ten minutes into Van Nest and you’ll get to Little Yemen. Or, walk about ten minutes the opposite way into West Farms and you’ll get to some nice greenery, and, the zoo!

From the station, walk along Morris Park Ave into Van Nest, and in less than ten minutes you’ll be in Little Yemen. In a narrow shop, titled Damascus Sweets on Google Maps, and with a storefront only written in Arabic, you will find some of the best honeyed pastries that rival what you could even find in the Middle East.

Northwest to West Farms

So, the Bronx River Greenway runs nearby the station, but it’s a little hard to navigate. Basically, if you walk northwest along East 180th street, you’ll pass Wings Academy on your left, and then to your right, just before you hit Devoe Street, is the entrance to the Greenway’s northbound walk/bike/skate path. Or, walk further along East 180th Street, and past the Bronx River Community Garden, but before Boston Road, you’ll see the entrance to the Greenway’s southbound walk/bike/skate path on your left.

Northbound Bronx River Greenway, which is being constructed into a singular road, but you can currently travel it a tad disjointedly.

If the Bronx River Community Garden is open, take a stroll through the well-tended beds. If not, River Park is just a bit further, and has a nice waterfall view.

Just past the River Park, turn right on Boston Road and you’ll hit the Asia Gate entrance to the Bronx Zoo.
