This stop gives you access to Bed-Stuy and Bushwick. The area is generally residential, with some cute and hip community spots scattered about.

Heads up, I recommend reviewing this guide in tandem with the Gates (JZ) stop, because a lot of the good spots are in a similar area. Now:

The Bed-Stuy Side

September: ***Project472 really liked it here*** Cafe by day, bar by night. The cocktails are super crafty and delicious.

Bed-Stuy Fish Fry on Halsey: Hole-in-the-wall soul food. The reviews are surprisingly low. I’d say, try it and decide for yourself.

Cuts & Slices: Interesting pizza place, also a bit small and hole-in-the-wall. It’s across from the fish fry.

Understudy Community Cocktails: Cool place for a drink, and more of a sit-down pizza vibe.

Olmo: Vibey restaurant! Perfect for date night or a friend gathering.

The Bushwick Side

Bushwick feels more residential, less commercial, relative to Bed-Stuy around this stop. I’d just poke around to enjoy the row house vibe, but if you’re willing to probe deeper into the territory you can try:

House Party: It’s a cafe with eh vibes and decor, but the locals like it.

Bar Cornelia: A little grunge, but again, the locals seem to like it. (Granted, if you’re on Evergreen anyway, why not walk 10 mins to The Evergreen, featured on Chauncey JZ)

The Marina Hotel: Ok I’m putting this one here because it’s pretty affordable, and if you want to visit NYC on a budget, its proximity to the JZ trains will get you to Manhattan in a jiffy!

Caffeine Underground: An eclectically-furnished cafe with board games and, sometimes, DJs. I’d come here for an event or to hang, but this isn’t, like, designer coffee or anything.
