Ocean Parkway (Q)
This stop is overlooked compared to Brighton Beach (BQ). And, I get it. If you’re going to Brighton Beach anyway, why not get off at the namesake stop?
Well, let me tell you why.
Here’s how you should Brighton Beach.
First, get off at the Ocean Parkway stop (this one!). It’s a sprawl of apartment complexes at first. Trust the process.
Walk along Brighton Beach Avenue eastward towards the Brighton Beach (BQ) stop. On the walk, go into every grocery store and bakery that calls to you, picking up all the eastern European goodies you want for a beach picnic. One of my favorites for grabbing snacks is International Food. Ignore the google reviews. Trust the process.
And one of my favorite restaurants, for sitting down or taking a pastry to go, is Güllüoglu Cafe & Bakery. It’s Turkish, specifically Gaziantepi.
Once you’ve had your fill, cut over to the boardwalk. You can then walk back along the beach or boardwalk towards the Ocean Parkway (Q) stop until you find the spot that’s just right for your summertime hang.
There you go! That’s why it’s worth it to get off at Ocean Parkway (Q).
