53rd Street (R)
This station brings you to 53rd St and 4th Ave, and I recommend walking down any of the brownstone-heavy streets to 5th Ave to get a feel for this vibrant multi-ethnic, primarily Latinx neighborhood.
***
5th Avenue, between the mid-40s and high-70s, is the site of the annual Puerto Rican parade. It usually happens in early June. This stop will bring you right to the heart of it.

On any other day, stroll along 5th and pop into the grocery stores; you can get staples (rice, tortillas, veggies) for cheap. This is also an area thick with Hispanic commerce (bakeries, flower shops, restaurants, budget stores) plus a Footlocker, pawn shops, and the like.

If you’re craving a Latin American snack, or a quick eat in the area neighborhood, 5th ave off this stop has you covered.
