59th Street (N, R)
This is a neighborhood by and for immigrants, with some gentrification starting to seep in.
Per usual for yellow-line stops in Sunset Park, the train brings you to 4th Ave, which is mostly for cars. Walk down any of the brownstone-lined streets to 5th Ave for the action.
5th Ave around here has colorful Latinx + Chinese vibe. Spanish is the dominant language on the streets. Most of the buildings are three stories tall, with commerce on the ground floor and housing up top.

5th Avenue, between the mid-40s and high-70s, is the site of the annual Puerto Rican parade. It usually happens in early June. This stop will bring you right to the heart of it.
***
Regardless of whether you’re here for the parade, you can check out the local Christian stationary store or La Snackeria or the Capy’s Tres Leches or the local Irish pub or anything else that calls to you for a taste of the local flavor. Go soon - who knows what this landscape will look like with gentrification on its way.
