Classon Avenue (G)

This stop brings you to the Lafayette Houses, and the area in general is a mix between vintage-clad Brooklynites and people of the projects. Is it gentrification, or is it cultural mixing?

For example, Platonic Love Vintage, an incredibly curated hipster thrift store, is around the corner from Kennedy Chicken, a hangout spot for people who live in the Lafayette Houses. These two places attract very different crowds, though they’re less than 50 feet away from each other.

To be fair, the hip drinking spots are nice. If that interests you, try Bar Laika, Entre Nous, or Commune Cafe + Wine Bar.

Lafayette Houses loom right outside the subway station.

The local eateries for Lafayette residents; meanwhile, Platonic Love Vintage is just around the corner, which attracts a very different crowd.

Entre Nous, which attracts more of the gentrifier crowd than the Lafayette Housing crowd.
